Yes, and it's one of the most common setups we see in the flats. When laundry gets added into a back porch, rear service room, or basement in those raised-foundation homes, the duct usually drops through the rim joist and runs some distance through the crawlspace to a side foundation vent. We clean from both ends, brushing from the dryer connection and then going under the house to work the termination, since the far end is where lint piles up once the run gets long. We'll also tell you what the duct is made of down there. Original galvanized is fine; the old flexible foil we often find in those runs is not, and it's usually crushed or sagging between supports.

In the hillside two-story homes, the vent runs vertically up through the attic to a roof cap, and from November through March the fog and rain off the Strait keep humidity high enough that warm exhaust condenses on the inside of that duct. Damp lint sticks instead of blowing out, and it builds in the vertical section and right at the roof cap where airflow slows. Dry times creep up, the laundry room gets humid, and sometimes you'll see staining on the ceiling near the duct. Cleaning clears it, but if the duct is uninsulated through a cold attic, that's the reason it keeps coming back.
